A Legacy of Innovation & Inspiration

Shaping the Future of Orthodontics Is the Cornerstone of Our Past

The Texas Orthodontic Study Club was founded as The Charles H. Tweed Orthodontic Group of the Southwest in March of 1946. The founders of TOSC were greatly influenced by Charlie Tweed, whose daring innovations rescued the practice of orthodontics from uncertainty to a high degree of predictability.

Dr. Tweed taught and shared what he knew with anyone who would listen. And, when challenged, became famous for inviting completely transparent debate by responding, “Just put your plaster on the table.”

It’s this sharing of case studies and ideas that became the foundation for TOSC. Fresh, bold, new ideas intermix with deep experience and healthy debate whenever members come together.

TOSC members gather several times a year for education and camaraderie. The centerpiece being the Annual Meeting filled with speakers, debates, case presentations, clinical pearls, networking and co-mentorship.

Additionally, TOSC annually gives the Fred F. Schudy People’s Choice Award to select cases based on voting of its entire membership. The award is an acknowledgement of special recognition in cases that are unique, unexpected, interesting, and worthy of special study by the membership.
